Even a short break at Glamping Tipis in France is enough to completely recharge the batteries and help you feel ready to face the world again!
But if you can extend your stay, that’s when you can truly take advantage of the quiet countryside. This is what Tipi living is about. Warm, dark nights on a comfortable bed with beautiful fresh Egyptian cotton linen wrapped around you. The gentle sound of the crickets outside to lull you off to sleep.
You will awake refreshed to the smell of dew in the grass with birdsong as your morning call. Take a stroll to Woody’s , take time to enjoy coffee and croissants in peace, whilst gazing at far reaching views. Glamping Tipis is about the outdoors, relaxing with nature and taking time for yourself and your family and casting off the burdens of urban living for a while.
We created a swimming lagoon and sandy beach for the kids and adults to chill out, swim and generally mess around on hot, sunny days. New for 2020 we designed and built our very own Flying Fox (zipline) 100 metres long with safety equipment. There is also all-weather table-tennis tables, volleyball, badminton, boules, etc available. This is all in addition to the acres of space, open fields, soft toys for babies and games for older children and grown-ups.
Most local towns have a weekly market where you can buy locally grown fresh produce and also local products like sunflower honey, patês and many other delicious things to eat.
Should you be lucky enough to be here on the 27th of any month the huge market at Rouillac is a must. Dating back to the Roman time, Rouillac is only 15mins away. The “vingt sept” as it is called was once an enormous horse trading fair but now you can buy anything you want from a donkey to a cheese and everything in between. It is a great day out and runs all day so you don’t have to be up at the crack of dawn to enjoy! The local magazine “Sortir” has a complete list of all events going on in the area and will be available to you here at Glamping Tipis.
As with everywhere else, you can always shop in France! There is nothing like a bit of retail therapy when you are on holiday. Historical Angouleme, the region’s capital, is just 35 minutes away. You will find everything a city has to offer and that includes both high street and boutique shopping.
Special places to visits would be the many chocolate boutiques selling the finest chocolate I have ever tasted. Also the old part of town is filled with good bars and restaurants where you can enjoy traditional French dishes or perhaps a delicious tagine at one of several north african and middle eastern eateries.
Equally Cognac and Jarnac are great places to visit and not just for the shopping. Both offer and insight into the cognac industry with most cognac houses offering tours. There are also lovely parks to visit with places for the kids to run about, climb and generally have a great time. Special mention has to be given to Bas Plein Air in Cognac, down by the river. Free to get in it is a great place to take the kids.
